The artistic journey of John B. Threadgill has been one of unexpected turns and renewed passions, beginning more than 40 years ago after graduating from Jefferson High School in Tampa and attending school at the University of Tampa as a member of the Spartan baseball team. While stationed in Japan with the U.S. Marine Corps, a chance encounter with a 17-year-old anime artist introduced him to the dynamic world of airbrushing. This sparked a lifelong pursuit that led him to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he earned his BFA.

After graduating in 1987, Threadgill immersed himself in the urban landscapes of the Midwest. For over a decade, his paintings captured the pulse of city life, exploring the intricate balance between its vibrant energy and its moments of solitude. His work, which often focused on cityscapes and street life, was featured in galleries across Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, and Fort Wayne, and he was even a featured artist at the prestigious CHIAROSCURO GALLERY in Chicago.

In the early 2000s, life's circumstances necessitated a pause. He stepped away from painting to build a stable environment for his family, embarking on a new career with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This path eventually led him to the Florida Keys, where he spent 12 inspiring years. Upon retiring in 2021, Threadgill fulfilled a promise to himself to return to his art.

Dividing his time between Alachua County and the Florida Keys, John draws endless creative energy from the breathtaking landscapes, coastal charm, and timeless character of Old Florida.
